Axis 5: Theoretical foundations of future communication networks

The National Center on Networks and Systems for Digital Transformation, led by Institut Mines-Télécom, fosters collaboration between academia and industry to drive sustainable digital innovation across sectors through advanced research, emerging technologies, and strategic partnerships.

Focus of this Axis Future communication networks face important challenges in terms of performance, sustainability, privacy, etc. To meet future requirements, they will have to exploit advanced techniques going well beyond the typical methods used to design previous-generation communication networks. This axis targets researchers that contribute to such advanced techniques or establish theoretical foundations for the analysis and the design of advanced communication networks. The scope of the axis is broad and targets researchers working in a wide range of fundamental and theoretical areas, including information theory, coding theory, stochastic geometry, wireless communications, queing theory, optimization, ressource allocation, hardware or antenna analysis and design, optics, or cybersecurity. All kinds of aspects and applications of modern communication networks are of interest to this axis. To name a few timely challenges: goal- and task-oriented communication communication for learning learning for communication non-terrestrial communication low-latency communication low-energy communicaiton security and privacy integrated sensing and communication compression and perception
